When Will Burning Man 2020 Tickets Be Mailed?

When Will Burning Man 2020 Tickets Be Mailed?

One of the biggest events in the world, the Burning Man draws tens of thousands of Burners each year. They gather for nine days of festivities in the Black Rock Desert, creating a huge temporary city. Called Black Rock City, the Burners celebrate selfless giving, self-expression, and artistic creativity.

This year, an estimated number of about 70,000 tickets will be sold. And these tickets will start to go on sale as early as February for group tickets. So if you are thinking of going to the Burn, then you better prepare now. Tickets to the Burning Man sell out really fast. In just half an hour after opening, almost 30,000 tickets are sold. This is how popular the event is compared to concerts and other festivals.

How do you buy a Burning Man ticket?

The registration and buying tickets are all done online. You have to create an account, a Burner Profile, on their main website first and then register for the ticket sale. You will then receive a confirmation email with a link. The link stays inactive until the ticket sale opens, in which case the link becomes active. To buy your ticket, you only have to click the link and it will take you to a new page where you can finally purchase your ticket.

Now, there’s a virtual queue when you buy Burning Man tickets. You have to “wait in a virtual line” before you can finally buy your ticket. If you’re successful in getting a ticket, you’ll receive another email confirming your purchase. Only two tickets per attendee will be offered and one vehicle pass.

If, on the other hand, you’re not successful, you will also receive an email telling you that all tickets are sold out.

But fret not. The ticket sale in February is just the first of many ticket sale schedules. So you still have more chances of getting your hands on a Burning Man ticket.

When will the Burning Man tickets go on sale?

If you belong to an art community, theme camp, or a group that produces standing art pieces and mutant vehicles, then registration for the ticket sale starts on February 11. Your leader or main organizer will have to send in the application form to the Burning Man organization, together with the list of the group’s approved members. Once approved by the organization, each approved group member will then receive an email to confirm their attendance. When ticket sale opens on February 26, the members are given a link where they can purchase their tickets.

If you don’t belong to any group, registration for individual ticket sale opens on March 4 for the early birds or FO'MO and April 1 to April 3 for the main sale. Ticket sale dates open on March 13 for the FO'MO and April 7 for the main sale. The March 4 ticket is pricier at $1,400 than the main sale’s ticket which is priced at $425. No special privileges, perks, or benefits are given to the FO'MO ticket holders though, just the advantage of securing their Burning Man tickets earlier than the rest of the Burners.

In case you missed these dates, you can still avail of Burning Man tickets through other ways. Registration for the OMG sale starts from July 9 to July 11, and ticket sale opens on July 21. The ticket for the OMG sale costs $550. You can also buy your tickets through their STEP sale or Secure Ticket Exchange Program. The STEP allows Burners to resell their tickets in case they won’t be able to make it to the event. Burners who don’t have tickets can then purchase theirs through the STEP sale. It’s a first-come, first-serve basis though so you have to be quick. Register as soon as the registration date for the STEP sale opens and monitor your emails closely for the ticket sale date.

The Burning Man organization also offers tickets to those who have a limited budget and can’t afford the regular ticket prices. If you really want to go and lack the budget for it, then you can avail of their low-income sale. All are welcome to apply, but the registration process is a bit strict though. You will be asked to submit documents to prove your income status. It will usually take as short as four weeks to as long as 12 weeks for the organization to review your application, depending on the number of applicants.

When will Burning Man tickets be mailed?

The registration and ticket sale dates for 2020 haven’t opened yet, so there’s no schedule yet for the release of the 2020 Burning Man tickets. However, based on previous years, the organization usually starts shipping tickets out by mid-June. It also usually takes about a month (mid-July) before all tickets are mailed out since the tickets are typically hand-packaged by their team.

So it will take some time before your ticket reaches you. Some even have to wait a month before they receive theirs. But rest assured that as soon as your tickets are shipped out, you will receive a notification email containing your tracking information. You can access this information through your Burner Profile, specifically in the Ticket Account.

If you have to make some changes in your delivery method, for example, or your address, you have to make the changes before the organization starts shipping out the tickets. You can also get in touch with them through email (ticketsupport@burningman.org) if you need further assistance. Or you can simply give them a call at 1-844-272-6505. Their customer support team is available to answer any of your inquiries from Monday to Friday from 6 am to 6 pm Pacific Time and Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 3 pm Pacific Time.

If, for some reason, you don’t want your tickets shipped and instead held for Will Call, you need to email them as soon as possible or give them a call. The email address and phone number have been posted above. If you failed to request the changes before they ship the tickets, then your tickets will be sent to you through the original delivery method posted in your Ticket Account.

What do you do if you don’t receive your Burning Man ticket?

First things first; the organization won’t refund or replace your Burning Man tickets and vehicle passes if you lost them or they got stolen after they were sent to you or while they are already in your possession. All tickets are non-refundable.

But problems can arise during the shipping process. It can get lost in transit or the courier can lose it. It can be stolen or the package can be compromised. In an event like this, what you can do is to file a lost package claim and alert the organization. They, in turn, will cancel the ticket and reissue you a new one. However, you will have to pick up the new ticket physically at Will Call. This is to prevent scammers who usually report the same stolen tickets multiple times in the hopes of receiving new tickets.

Will Call, in a nutshell, simply means that your tickets are being held up at the Box Office for pick up. The Box Office, simply put, is the main front gate of the temporary city. This is the gate where all Burners drive in to get to their camps. It opens at exactly 12 pm Pacific Time on the first day of the Burning Man (August 30, 2020, Saturday, for this year).

To pick up your ticket at Will Call, you will need to show them a valid government-issued photo ID. In addition to this, you should also bring a copy of your order confirmation number with you. Sometimes, they also ask for your Burner profile and the email address you used when you registered and bought your tickets.

Picking up your reissued tickets can be a bit of a hassle for many, especially if the line is long. Some even had to wait in the Will Call line for as long as 10 to 15 hours, so you will need tons of patience.

What to do when you receive your tickets?

If there were no problems during the shipping process and you now have your tickets with you, keep them in a safe place. You don’t want to lose them. Remember that they won’t refund your tickets or replace them if the mistake was yours, so always keep them in a safe place.

Before leaving for the Burning Man, make sure that you have your tickets with you. You don’t want to travel all those miles only to realize you left your tickets at home.

Final Thoughts

Burning Man may be selling 70,000 tickets this 2020, but with so many people wanting to go to the Burn, you have to be quick in securing your own tickets. The organization will ship them out by mid-June, and you can always track the progress of your package through your Burner Profile’s Ticket Account. For any problems in the shipping process, get in touch with them via their email or the phone number mentioned above.
